A stroke, sometimes called a brain attack, occurs when something blocks blood supply to part of the brain or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. In either case, parts of the brain become damaged or die. A stroke can cause lasting brain damage, long-term disability, or even death.
About the Brain Injury/Stroke Family Support Group
Riverside Medical Clinic Charitable Foundation’s Brain Injury and Stroke Family Support Group provides a forum to meet, share information and offer encouragement in caring for a loved one or surviving a brain injury or a stroke. Monthly meetings address various issues such as diagnosis, symptom management, life changes, caregiver stress, and other important subjects.
While the Brain Injury and Stroke Family Support Group usually meets on the Lower Level of the Riverside Medical Clinic’s Main Campus at 7117 Brockton Avenue in Riverside on the third Wednesday of each month, during this time due to COVID-19, we have moved our support groups online for the time being.
Virtual meetings are FREE and participants are welcome from all medical groups. Spouses, partners, adult family members, close friends, and caregivers are welcome to attend.
