Wendy K. Winer, RN, BSN, CNOR, RNFA is an endoscopic surgery specialist and Director of Research & Technology Development for the Center for Endometriosis Care. She is one of the most well-known and highly respected RN First Assistants in the world, globally recognized not only for her incomparable surgical expertise and mentorship but importantly, for her gentle, compassionate caregiving. A registered nurse for more than 40 years, Wendy wants all patients to be the ultimate beneficiaries of her immeasurable experiences and expertise.

Wendy was the first nurse at the AAGL to be awarded the “AAGL Scarf” by Dr. Jordan Philips for her years of service to the organization, which focuses on the education of nurses and physicians in the area of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She is also a former adjunct Faculty Member of the Emory University School of Nursing and has served as the Chair of the Association of Operating Room Nurses Specialty Assembly for General Surgery/Gynecology and remains a member of its Advisory Board. She is on the AORN Task Force for the potential hazards of smoke in the operating room, on the Nursing Advisory Board of American Health Consultants, on the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, is an Editorial Advisor for the Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing, is on the Advisory Board for Medical Books of China and for over two decades, has served as the Chair of the AAGL Nursing & Operating Room Personnel Committee. In addition, she is AAGL international advisor, Endometriosis Special Interest Group and Research Committee member, and most recently, performed live surgeries and served as presenting Faculty at the annual AAGL Congress in Vancouver, Canada.

The author and co-author of countless medical journal articles, book chapters and publications, Wendy routinely teaches nurses, physicians, and other healthcare providers. She has been a featured speaker at numerous professional and patient-oriented events, and Chaired or served as Faculty of workshops for physicians and nurses around the globe in nearly 30 countries, including as an invited delegate for a multi-city trip across China to train physicians in excision of endometriosis. Wendy has also coordinated numerous FDA clinical trials and been involved in extensive research endeavors ranging from adhesions and fibroids to endometriosis and pelvic pain. Most notably, however, she is known far and wide for her unlimited compassion and tireless dedication to patients.
