Course Objectives:
- Define CPR
- Explain the differences between a heart attack and cardiac arrest
- Explain the normal functioning of the heart
- Identify common causes of sudden cardiac arrest
- Explain the abnormal functioning of the heart during a heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest
- List the steps of high-quality CPR
- Define what an AED is and explain its usage
- Demonstrate proficiency in practical CPR skills
Course format: 1 1/2 hour formal lecture with 30-minute skills training and validation
